The SR2 Mega Bulb, created by Sofie Refer, mimics the outline of an early electrical light bulb. Crafted from mouth-blown glass and porcelain, the design of Mega Bulb is entirely transparent: lampshade, bulb and cord are clear allowing for light to pass through. The large bulb size is perfectly suited for lighting large interior spaces while the minimal Danish design imparts subtle sophistication and warmth. Mimas Pendant

The glassmaker’s craft of using an “optic mold” to create desired interior textures and designs was invented by Roman glassworkers and flourished in Venice in the Middle Ages. Using this ancient “optic” technique, we house a glass bulb in a hand-blown oval diffuser. This diffuser is perfectly clear on the outside with a wavy horizontal pattern worked in its bulb-facing side.
