The Funiculi series was brought to life by Lluis Porqueras in 1979 and has been brought up to date by Marset some 30 years later. With a design focus of purity and simplicity, everything superfluous has been removed till only the pure essence of the lamp remains.

Clips are used to hold the lamp in place and allow the lamp to be adjusted up or down as needed. The shade can be rotated a full 360 degrees putting the light exactly where it is needed. The metal base has a rubber coating on the bottom to protect the floor and give added stability to the lamp.

This insect-like design from 1953 was created as a reaction to heavier, clunkier Italian designs of the time. Serge Mouille wanted to create a practical floor light with delicate lines and a stunning visual presence. True to Serge Mouille's original production philosophy, each piece is made entirely by hand in France using the original forms, molds and techniques created by Mouille nearly 70 years ago. The unique brass joint allows the head to swivel and turn to any position and hold steady. Each piece is stamped and numbered. Only 600 pieces are produced each year at the Mouille factory and distributed around the world.

The simple structural shapes with the innovative use of taut plastic over fine steel wire were born from George Nelson's frustration to buy a Swedish-made silk lamp which produced a soft light. These pieces are part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and remain icons in modern lighting.

Nelson® Bubble Lamp - Pear® Floor Lamp

The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available.
The PH 80 Floor Lamp was put into production on what was to be Poul Hennigsen’s 80th birthday. Henningsen was fascinated with the new world of plastics so the PH 80 is constructed of Acrylic. This makes for a less expensive product without compromising light quality.

The Greek goddess Theia – mother of the sun, the moon and the dawn – lends her name to this lamp, whose design seeks to express the beauty of light and the fascination we feel for it. In Theia, the materials and shapes are merely the physical manifestations of the underlying concept: merging both light and shadow in a single piece.
Theia has two faces: to discover them, simply swivel the fixture around its central axis. It can be pointed towards you for use as a reading lamp, or towards an object or a wall, creating a subtle, indirect light that immediately warms the atmosphere. Because Theia’s metal lampshade is totally opaque, this swivelling movement totally shifts the perception of the piece.

Theia’s formal design is elementary and streamlined: two half-spheres, one placed horizontally and the other vertically, which intersect with each other. Just as in nature itself, these formal elements make it possible for the light from a source to be simultaneously projected, reflected, and absorbed by objects for our visual enjoyment.
