The Misia sculpture is a reclining female figure in the recognizable post-war British style. Here, the human figure fuses with organic forms such as shells, pebbles and bones. What started as an experiment of mixing metal with wood evolved into this stunning collection of furniture and wall art. Molten aluminum and brass are carefully poured into reclaimed wood from India. The temperature must be carefully controlled; too hot and the wood burns, too cool and the alloy doesn’t distribute evenly. This piece is crafted with natural solid wood. Color and character of wood grain may vary and natural cracking will result in the aluminum fill pattern to differ from piece to piece.
