Inspired by the spiraling movement of air, often seen through smoke or mist, the new Aer vase by Gabriel Tan for menu brings sculptural appeal to surfaces. Taking its name from the Latin word for air or vapor, the vase’s asymmetrical silhouette undulates in liquid-like waves to bring a tactile, almost ethereal quality to the glass. Offered in two sizes, high or low, the sculptural design is ideal paired in twos to display flowers or branches, yet looks equally beautiful as a standalone sculpture. Bringing a new perspective to traditional vases, Aer’s rippled silhouette is perfect for admiring from afar and exploring up close. Designed for MENU by Gabriel Tan, his innate appreciation of simplicity, sculptural beauty and functionality come together on Aer. Following an extensive period of research and design to realize his vision, attempting to capture a form of beauty not often encountered in daily life, Gabriel Tan has created an object of beauty and function. The tactile surface of the rippled glass vase, offered in two sizes, is made during a precision process whereby molten glass is mouth-blown into a double cavity tool that reveals the complex three-dimensional shape. The finished design displays different visual characteristics depending on the viewing angle. Allowing for the arrangement of flowers and branches in two bunches instead of one within the same vessel, Aer becomes more than simply a vase: it is a sculptural object, also when not in use. When placed close to natural light, on a window sill or tabletop, it takes on an ethereal feel, where reflections and refractions of light bring the design and the surface on which it stands to life. Refracting and reflecting the light through its rippled glass surface, the Aer vase brings a new perspective to traditional vases. The ethereal design holds multiple floral arrangements within the same vessel, making it both practical as well as sculptural. Available in two sizes, high and low.

Reimagining the classic elegance of glass vases and bowls, the Échasse Series brings a minimalist silhouette with distinguished, playful edge to modern and traditional spaces. Theresa Rand’s playful concept beautifully interprets the word “échasse”: French for “stilts”. The slender, stilt-like supporting legs delicately suspend the glass forms, creating a sense of lightness while ensuring stability.

The Échasse Vase—The first piece in the now-iconic series was inspired by laboratory test tubes. The drop-shaped form is as elegant when holding flowers on a desk, living room floor, or nightstand as it is when left unfilled. The smoked glass version with brushed brass legs is available in three sizes. The unique colour gradients of the glass give the design depth and contrast against the legs’ clean lines. The smallest vase is now available with clear glass and bronzed brass legs; a classic pairing to complement any interior palette, in a size ideal for more compact spaces.

Curator's Notes

Considering raw rattan can take on a variety of forms after processing, it’s a well-loved material that has been used for ages to make furniture and weave baskets. Rattan is also lightweight, durable and flexible to work with providing artisan’s the ability to bend and shape it into intricate patterns or oblong forms. Hairu with the help of designer Rina Ono, combines these properties, traditional techniques and incorporates the perfect proportions for modern living in a series of baskets that gently cradle household belongings. They can be used to store items such as magazines, electronics, towels, throw blankets, toys and accessories.

Large polished bronze BOS vase designed by Christophe Delcourt for Collection Particuliere. This eye-catching sculptural object can be used as a vase but is also an exploration into the technically challenging process and the noble material used being polished bronze. As Objets de nécessité (necessary objects), this BOS Base keeps function at the forefront, while managing to elevate everyday objects.

French-born Christophe Delcourt studied at the Theatre Ecole du Passage in 1989,  committing to designing furniture and objects and opening his first studio in the Marais area of Paris in 1998. Since then, he has designed for restaurants, hotels and boutiques and has exceeded with his furniture and accessory collections.
Collection Particuliere was c reated in 2014 by Jérôme Aumont, presenting meaningful furniture and objects with bold, clean shapes. The primary materials are wood, marble, leather, brass and ceramic—chosen for their character and ability to age with grace. Collection Particulière aims to be an immersion into “daily life objects, where every single piece of furniture and every object is considered to be a sculpture, a piece with a true statement. A piece that does not immediately show its true nature.”
Aumont has partnered with some of the leading names in European design. Among the talented collaborators are Christophe Delcourt, Grégoire de Lafforest, Dan Yeffet, Arno Declercq and Dessuant Bone.

KAZI was founded to create beautiful products that alleviate poverty across rural Africa. Their products are all made from all natural fibers of sisal and sweet grass with natural dyes that are food safe. KAZI sources local materials native to Africa that are readily available to their artisans.
KAZI reinvests their profits to further expand artisan development through training initiatives — training rural farmers to become artisans and teaching existing craftspeople new techniques and processes to continue to build upon their existing skill sets. All items must be unused and in new condition with any tags still attached. Returns that are damaged, soiled or altered may not be accepted.

This porcelain bud vases has been glazed in a metallic black glaze. Each bud vase is handmade and slightly different from the next - no two vases are ever the same. The vase's simple form is designed to highlight whatever it holds. Approx. 3.5" tall
