All products are made by hand with love and vary slightly in color and size. Made only in an ethical, fair trade environment. Handwoven by a cooperative of women located in Rwanda, this one of kind piece takes weeks to complete.

KAZI was founded to create beautiful products that alleviate poverty across rural Africa. Their products are all made from all natural fibers of sisal and sweet grass with natural dyes that are food safe. KAZI sources local materials native to Africa that are readily available to their artisans.
KAZI reinvests their profits to further expand artisan development through training initiatives — training rural farmers to become artisans and teaching existing craftspeople new techniques and processes to continue to build upon their existing skill sets. Each KAZI product is handmade in Africa. KAZI is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and implements fair trade practices across their organization.

Curator's Notes

We imagined these Green Tea Boxes by Azmaya all over our home the second we saw them! These traditional boxes were well thought out in terms of material and function by our forebears as their original purpose was to store green tea leaves. The cedar was meant to protect it’s contents by naturally repelling moisture and smell while the non-rust galvanized sheet metal that lines each box, was meant to keep the green tea leaves dry until they were ready to be ground. In a contemporary home, these boxes are great for storing food in the pantry while repelling insects or for condensing small household belongings in the closet. Stack a few different sizes up and you can create a beautiful organizational area in the living room.
