What does grapefruit essential oil smell like? Summery, refreshing, zesty and aromatic, the grapefruit is a little 'tangy'. Grapefruit essential oil has juicy citrus notes, somewhere between mandarin and pomelo, with a bright zestiness. In aromatherapy it's used to conjure a soothing, balanced state of mind.
What scents go well with grapefruit? It blends well with herbs (basil, lavender, mint), woods (cedarwood, sandalwood, teak) and florals (jasmine, neroli, ylang-ylang).
What are grapefruits used for? Cultivated in the Caribbean in the 1820's, 'citrus paradisi' is a hybrid between the pomelo and the orange. The pomelo is a little bitter and the orange, sweet, so the grapefruit has both characteristics. Grown as a fruit tree across the American South, the essential oil is harvested by cold-pressing the fruit to extract the oil.

We selected the most fragrant of the surrounding rare botanicals to create our bright aquatic floral unisex blend, directly capturing the scent molecules without destroying the plant. Shrubby goldenweed, a native flowering bush that is able to compete with invasive species, has a lemony scent. We combine it with the citrus aroma of Yellowstone sand verbena, a plant that does not grow anywhere else in the world and is at risk of extinction. Rounded out with solar flower, lavender, and base notes of amber and plant-based musk, we think of it as mountain sunshine in a bottle.
