Michael Aram's limited edition sculptures are handmade artistic explorations inspired by objects and ideas which capture Michael's imagination. The sculptures are limited to 136 editions each and are individually crafted so that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. The Spiral Shell sculpture is the next in a series of "broken shell" pieces which have fascinated the artist. Inspired by shells he picks up while walking the beach with his children, broken shells take on special meaning for Aram. "For me, shells are a very powerful symbol of the human journey. They are a symbol of strength and truth, recognized by cultures and faiths around the globe. Blowing into conch shells create a prayerful sound which symbolizes a call to enlightenment. The image of a broken shell, therefore, represents the fragility of that enlightenment and the need for us to safeguard our physical and spiritual being."

The Moon Gates are inspired by traditional round passageways found in Chinese landscape architecture which act as entry and exit points to the garden. The circular elements are symbolic of the idea of completion, representing and celebrating the cohesiveness of the family, as members pass through the gate to return home. Another interpretation is that, as the moon, the opening is symbolic of the cycle of life, and renewal as the full moon marks wholeness and is suggestive of new beginnings. "I love thinking of these sculptures as a portal into nature. By looking at the moon gate, I am reminded of the delicate balance between man and nature, and my need for connection between my home life and the beauty and abundance of nature."

"I have long been fascinated with natural coral formations and have been involved in coral reef conservation through SeaWeb, raising awareness of the need to preserve coral reefs from destruction. I also do this through my creation of coral art which is sculpted, not living or destroyed. Corals are the most incredible living organisms which provide shelter and sustenance for other undersea creatures. Their formations are varied and beautiful and continue to inspire my work."

Dove 14" Moon Gate Sculpture

The Black Iris Collection is inspired by the vitality and beauty of the iris flower. Named after the Greek word for rainbow, the idea of a "black rainbow" feels oxymoronic and mysterious. Michael Aram uses contrasting oxidized and polished brass, as his way of doubting the question of whether there is such a thing as an iris which is truly black in nature. "I am fascinated with the beauty and mystery of black irises. They are symbolic of wisdom, courage, and admiration. Given as gifts, they convey deep sentiments."

Black Iris 22" Moon Gate Sculpture

Amy Laugesen is a Colorado-based sculptor known for her modern-day equine “relics” that span from large-scale commissioned public artworks to small mixed-media treasures. Primarily working with ceramics, Laugesen has mastered techniques to create works that look ancient, drawing from Eastern and Western clay sculpting traditions, and a variety of glazing methods to achieve the unique color of each sculpture. Of the work, Laugesen shares, “ Sun and Moon is connected to mythology—the mythology of both horses, like Pegasus, but also Gods or Goddesses from ancient Greece, Rome and Celtic traditions. Winged horses are said to connect heaven and earth, to pull the sun across the sky with a chariot of horses, or to rise with the sun to watch over the earth—depending on the culture. Sun and Moon features a combination of underglazes and commercial glazes to achieve the aged look.  I see the glazes that I use more like a patina on bronze, and I am really looking to combine them to evoke earlier civilizations.”
