We weave the fabric in small quantities at our mill in Italy using the finest Egyptian Cotton yarns that are dyed with a special process to give the colors unique depth - yarn dyed. This dying and weaving process gives the fabric incredible depth of colour and texture.

When the fabric is woven, we then wash the fabric in old Italian hot baths and leave to dry. This softens the fabric and creates a beautiful finish that is called a boutis finish - the fabric has an incredible depth and patina to it. Panama is inspired by the Mola, or Molas, which is a hand-made textile that forms part of the traditional women's clothing of the Kuna people from Panamá. They are hand-made using a reverse appliqué technique. Several layers (usually two to seven) of different-coloured cloth (usually cotton) are sewn together; the design is then formed by cutting away parts of each layer.  Molas have their origin in body painting.  ‘Panama’ makes part of Rondelli’s art project ‘worldseries’ to create modern design inspired by old techniques and textiles around the world.

Lines, layers and networks are topics in her diverse artistic work. With craftsmanship, mindfulness and a sense for the essentials of aesthetics, she creates an almost zen-like handwriting that surprises with her direct and simple beauty. Originally created in 1998 in the technique of wax reservation,  the artworks were drawn directly on the fabric with wax and then dyed by hand, with unique techniques such as scratching the wax surfaces to create even more elaborate patterns.

The linen used to make this duvet has been dew retted. This is the most natural way to extract pectins (what is woven into linen) from the flax. It uses the least amount of water of all retting processes and is completely sustainable.

Liam has a casually informal air that is both classically familiar and new. Light and dark colored threads alternate in the weaving process to create a subtle pattern that reads as a solid from afar.
Care: Machine wash gentle cycle, mild detergent. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat, short cycle. Be careful not to over-dry as this will cause wrinkling. Ironing is really optional.

Our Vintage Luxe bedding range is a special premier collection celebrating Italian weaving and traditional finishing. We weave the fabric in small quantities at our mill in Italy using the finest Egyptian Cotton yarns that are dyed with a special process to give the colors unique depth - yarn dyed. This dying and weaving process gives the fabric incredible depth of colour and texture.

When the fabric is woven, we then wash the fabric in old Italian hot baths and leave to dry. This softens the fabric and creates a beautiful finish that is called a boutis finish - the fabric has an incredible depth and patina to it. Some call it boutis, some call washed , we call it Vintage Luxe - Exclusive handmade Italian luxury bedding.

The bedding is a nod to the traditional ikat dyeing technique. It is done by dyeing sections of the yarn before weaving, which gives the woven pattern a very vibrant look. Here we recognize the alive, bright and colorful principle linked to the ikat technique.
