What scents go well with grapefruit? It blends well with herbs (basil, lavender, mint), woods (cedarwood, sandalwood, teak) and florals (jasmine, neroli, ylang-ylang). What are grapefruits used for? Cultivated in the Caribbean in the 1820's, 'citrus paradisi' is a hybrid between the pomelo and the orange. The pomelo is a little bitter and the orange, sweet, so the grapefruit has both characteristics. Grown as a fruit tree across the American South, the essential oil is harvested by cold-pressing the fruit to extract the oil.
