The 18 Bentwood Stool was first designed by one of Michael Thonet's sons, August Thonet, in the 1800s.  The No. 18 Bentwood Stool remains a popular item due to is light but strong characteristics.
The first embossed seat appeared on Michael Thonet's bentwood chairs in 1885 in an effort to appeal to a renaissance taste during this time.  Bauhaus2YourHouse offers several of these designs as optional variations on many of the bentwood chairs and stools, including the No A18.
