The Michael Thonet Kontor Bentwood Chair makes a classic addition to any office or home seeking the famed bentwood look. Similar to the B5503 VAR bentwood chair , this model uses a wooden seat and an attractive fan back. The Kontor bentwood chair is height adjustable from a seat height of 27 1/4" up to 35 1/2" making it usable near almost any desk.
Our bentwood chairs come from original factories located in Eastern Europe. Original machinery and jigs are used to complete the process of creating these magnificent classic furniture pieces.
After the 1855 Paris Exposition Universelle, Michael Thonet’s company started to realize a great amount of success in international markets.  Although the Austrian press gave his designs a poor review, he was able to secure contracts around the world.  Bentwood items, such as the Kontor, grew quickly in popularity.

Materials: Bentwood chair. Frame in solid natural beechwood or beechwood with a stain or lacquer finish.  Seat in wood veneer, woven cane, or upholstered with fabric or leather.  Swivel and height-adjustable.  Please note seat will match frame coloring when specifying wood veneer seats.
