The TC stool was designed in 1989 by Ruud-Jan Kokke at the request of the Boymans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. Mrs. Trees Coenders provided guided tours of the museum and was looking for a stool that could easily be taken along during the tour. The result was the TC stool, light in weight (less than 1 kg), strong and stackable. The stool ultimately takes its name from her! The round TC stool is made of thin birch plywood of 2 millimeters thick, transparent lacquered or stained black. The slots around make the stool visually light and the handle in the seat makes it easy to pick up the stool. The stool is included in the collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art, Cooper Hewitt Museum New York, Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The design also won several prizes such as the Design Yearbook 1998 prize and the first prize at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair ICFF in New York.
