The Saarinen Tulip Table was designed between 1954 - 1957. The tables were introduced as the “Pedestal Series” along with a range of other furniture pieces that included chairs and stools. In the design of the series, Saarinen wanted to use a singular material, preferably plastic, for both the bases and tops of the various tables.
