The nth degree. The newly engineered TensionZip flak pocket opening redefines what is arguably one of the most recognisable (and most copied) elements of this legendary jacket. In true Acronym fashion it does this, not by merely altering its appearance, but by changing its functionality and improving its operation. The same can be said for the new freestanding Storm Hat (360 protection and hearing) and the zipless reloadable GravityPocketsǽ (smoother, faster, lighter). Fabric development is also iterative; the new smooth handed 40 denier face fabric is made from recycled nylon yarns, and laminated to Gore-Tex® with Paclite® Plus product technology (the 4th generation of Paclite membranes). All of this (and more) results in J1A-GTPL being one of our most sophisticated environmental interfaces ever.
J1A was the first ever jacket designed by Acronym. Originally conceived in the years between 1999 and 2001, it is the progenitor of the Type 2371*, and of every other Acronym jacket that has followed.
J1A-GTPL is the culmination of everything we have learned about building apparel since that time. Everything is new. Everything is the same. The very idea of ǍCROŇYMř rendered in physical, wearable form. A carefully balanced array of functional and aesthetic systems presented here in completely remastered form. Asymmetric. Dynamic.
