Description
The Misia Statue in Gold from Bungalow 5 is a reclining female figure in the recognizable post-war British style. Here, the human figure fuses with organic forms such as shells, pebbles, and bones. In an effort to move beyond war, these artists gravitated to pre-cultural and pre-rational inspirations. Particularly, they admired the monumentality and humanism of Toltec-Mayan sculpture.
