The Arched Back Nude Black Earthenware Pitcher is handmade at a small family-run studio.  This vessel is made here entirely by hand using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible for glazes, clays, limestone and wood ash.
This pitcher features a ceramic technique called sgraffito: a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, typically done in plaster or stucco on walls, or in slip on ceramics before firing. This one-of-a-kind strong, yet graphic piece celebrates the strength and beauty of the human form.
