Finn Juhl designed the Reading Chair as both a dining room chair and as a reading chair in 1953. The top horizontal piece was added to allow for multiple seating positions. It is equally comfortable whether you choose to sit facing the front or the back.
Finn Juhl was one of the leading figures in the Danish Design movement. He approached his work in the manner of a sculptor, seeking the beauty of the volume and shape, life and expressiveness; It was clear that to him, furniture could not be limited to function, but should also express an artistic sensibility.
In 2001, Onecollection was trusted with the exclusive rights to manufacture and relaunch Finn Juhl’s sculptural and iconic furniture by Hanne Wilhelm Hansen, Finn Juhl’s widow.
