Curator's Notes

This is a clay teapot with a red earthen colour - a reminder of its original source of material from the rich terra of the Aichi Prefecture. It seems to exist in quiet peace embodying memories of all the teas it has brewed within a flat bottomed body. Its traditional wide opening now sought-after because of the skill required to craft it, is particularly beautiful for allowing us to watch tea leaves, and see how they open.
