Curator's Notes

After many breaks for tea throughout each work day, I begin to see my mug as more of an intimate friend than just another drinking vessel. I look for one that is unique, and this mug hand-formed by Masanobu Ando has exactly that quality. A pinched side forms a droplet when viewed from above, and the little notched ring of a handle hugs your fingers as you hold it. The idea is to drink from the spouted point while the heat of the vessel warms your hands.
