Curator's Notes

This piece is the result of our collaborative efforts with Ryuji Mitani to create the perfect ice cream cup. Which is what we tried to accomplish by means of a round bowl that fits comfortably in the hand, signature white urushi lacquer and a circular footed stand. Though t he best part is the surprise at the bottom of the cup - artful brushstrokes as beautiful as a painting revealed after eating your way to the end of the dessert!

Handcrafted in Matsumoto, Japan
Bottom center surface of cup is lacquered black
Do not soak urushi lacquered pieces in water for prolonged periods
Each piece is unique and will have variations
Wash with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Rinse with warm water
Wipe with a cloth and dry well

Urushi lacquer will patina and change in texture and color with time and use

Not dishwasher safe
