Ohitsu rice chests are made to optimize the texture and flavor of cooked rice while keeping rice warm. Since it is made with a natural material, sawara cypress, the porous wood absorbs extra moisture from fresh cooked rice so it can be served at the perfect temperature and texture. The chest not only controls humidity levels of rice the tried-and-true way, it also functions as a beautiful serving vessel.
