Curator's Notes

The octagonal Ori bowl shines as brightly as a star. Each piece is cast in pure tin by skilled workers in Takaoka city, an area famous in Japan for its production of metal objects. I love the contrast of tin’s durability with the delicate shape of the bowl and the way the pebbled texture plays against the stark facets. Tin ha s natural antimicrobial properties and is r esistan t to tarnishing. It also is great for keeping dishes chilled—just place the bowl in the fridge or freezer for a few moments before serving. The three sizes nest together or can be arranged side by side upon the table.
