Curator's Notes

This raised ceramic piece is so artfully made — looking at the sizes all stacked together reminds me of minimalist sculpture. The platter is handmade with crackle glaze and flour powder, which can cause a light blush to develop when it's fired and light crackling on the surface that becomes more apparent with time and use. It's a beautiful backdrop for special dishes like sushi, as well as for elevating objects in your home for display. Also available in Small and Medium sizes.

The piece is made with a flour crackle glaze that intentionally crackles and becomes more apparent with time and use
The surface becomes crackled but smooth to the touch
The flour powder sometimes produces clusters of blush-toned areas on the surface after firing
It is recommended before first-use to soak the piece in boiling water or (rice porridge water) to fill any porous areas of the clay
Made using the hand-built slab method of pottery

Bottoms of stand are unglazed to help prevent sliding
Not microwave safe
Not dish wash safe
After use, wash with care using a soft sponge and dry before storing
