Curator's Notes

This bowl is not overly decorated but nonetheless feels very special because of it silver surface. In a tabletop setting serving an appropriately special dish in it or using it as an occasional fruit bowl would be ideal. In a living room scenario its a great size for a coffee table or credenza to hold small household objects.

Features Masanobu Ando's signature stamp on the bottom of the bowl
Upper and underside is silver overglazed
Silver overglaze will patina to develop a black matter over time
The blackish patina is harmless and is a sulfide film that occurs when silver combines with hydrogen sulfide in the air
The bowl can be polished to remove the patina with toothpaste or baking soda and a damp cloth

Wipe with a cloth and dry well after use
