Curator's Notes

We use this tray as a personal plate because it's a great size for a few sweets or breakfast patisseries. The walls make it ideal for serving, but the size is actually perfect for a single person serving size. I’m sure Ando-san uses it for exquisite wagashi desserts to share, but a couple mini donuts with tea for one will do in our books.

Handcrafted in Tajimi, Japan
Features Masanobu Ando's signature stamp on the bottom of the plate
Upper and underside is silver overglazed
A rim with intentional notched corner surrounds the circumference
Silver overglaze will patina to develop a black matter over time
The blackish patina is harmless and is a sulfide film that occurs when silver combines with hydrogen sulfide in the air
The tray can be polished to remove the patina with toothpaste or baking soda and a damp cloth.
