In 2018 Joshua Tree community members got together and raised enough money to put up this billboard in response to a transphobic billboard placed by Congressional candidate Tim Donnelly. Donnelly's billboard critiqued military spending for transgender veterans. Neighbors decided that hate has no place in their home and fired back with words of love and encouragement.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The group states “Out here in this desert, we love our neighbors. And we won’t let some politician come through and try to divide us. To our transgender neighbors and visitors, let us be clear: You are valued and you are welcome here.”
