Our series of Hem Rugs puts post-consumer plastic bottles to good use: each sustainable design is made from repurposed PET-yarn, giving you a soft yet durable finish that works as well in your home as it does outdoors. The series’ flat-weave mat is detailed with asymmetrical rows of fringed trim that underscore its artisanal feel. With the help of specialized technology, the Hem series presents a sustainable line of textiles made entirely of post-consumer plastic bottles. Each Hem Mat is made using 31 bottles. This technique gives you incredibly durable designs while helping to clean up the oceans. The more you study the table, the more details you will discover. The rounded edge of the table top is inspired by the soft bending of the steel tubes, and the angle of the legs make the table top look like it is floating in the air. The legs consist of four black powder coated steel tubes, all changing direction and then gathering in one strong unity, which gives the table both strength and a light expression at the same time. Each leg has an adjustment screw in brass - a delicate little detail that makes a beautiful contrast to the raw, black steel tubes.

The result is Rely, an environmentally-friendly chair whose modern shell is crafted entirely from recycled plastic. The inventive recycling process – which Welling continues to fine-tune – sees the chair’s black shells crafted from the black plastic panels found in a car’s interior. Because the coloured shells require clear materials that will act as blank canvas, Welling has pioneered a different approach for them, sourcing post industrial waste. After being crushed into small pieces they are mixed with colour and readied for injection moulding. "When it comes to the environment, we want to do the best job possible with the best materials available," explains Welling of his decision to prioritize sustainability. This ethos has extended to all aspects of the chair’s design including its construction; should it require a repair, Welling has deliberately made it simple to dismantle so that its lifespan is extended. Renowned for his signature minimalism, Welling’s latest piece continues his legacy of melding simplicity with practicality. Rely’s understated appearance belies the thorough consideration that has been given to its ergonomic design, with each of its curves developed to provide optimal back support. "When creating a design with a simple visual expression, the details become extremely important because there’s so much focus on them," says Welling. As a furniture designer, Poul Cadovius was mostly known for his iconic shelving systems, like the ROYAL SYSTEM® from 1948. But with the launch of the dining chair PIA CHAIR in 1959, he could also add the title chair designer to the CV. He wanted to create a chair in the spirit of the time, inspired by other design chairs of the fifties, but lighter and more "petite", both in physical weight and in design expression. The chair was developed on a "less is more" concept, with focus on the least possible material consumption, still maintaining a high level of details and excellent comfort. The thin, conical-shaped solid wooden legs give a light visual expression, which is further emphasized by two fine details; the hand-sanded rounding at the top of the back legs, and the finger joined front legs. The seat is made of hand-woven paper cordel, and the backrest is moulded, which gives an optimal seating comfort. It takes two hours just to hand-weave the seat, so the making of the chair is a time-consuming process which requires patience and high accuracy.
