Aniline is the most natural, soft, and highest quality of all leather types. It is generally more expensive because only the best raw hides are used. This leather becomes more beautiful over time and will develop a natural patina. This leather starts very structured but becomes more malleable and supple with consistent usage. A natural characteristic of this leather allows heat and natural oils from your body to be absorbed because there is no pigment or polyurethane which is typically used on lesser quality leathers. The classically Moroccan neutral textiles we created for the newest editions to Nena & Co., bring a twist to our one-of-a-kind family as each piece of fabric we use is made NEW by Berber women in Morocco. It has all the Nena vibes but with lambskin leather that is buttery soft, light weight and locally sourced. Nena & Co. has gone global in search of talented Artisans who desire sustainable income at fair wages and we think we found the perfect fit in beautiful Morocco.

PROCESS The eco friendly panels created for our Moroccan Collection start with sheering of sheep herded locally which is carefully washed, sun dried, brushed and then spun by hand. The Berber weavers hand dye each color they have chosen to use in their design. The dyed wool is hung out in the sun to dry once again, is cut down to the proper length and then the artisan weaver begins to line her stand up loom creating her unique pattern.
LEATHER The Moroccan Collection is made with lambskin leather that is buttery soft, light weight and locally sourced.
FABRIC Each piece of fabric we use is made NEW by Berber women in Morocco.

Each woolen strap is created from hand dyed threads using natural dyes. The patterns and weaving techniques used are unique to the Zapotec artisans who have shared their skills from generation to generation. Each panel is an expression of their culture. The co-operative we work with was founded to support and empower the women of Oaxaca, Mexico through their creative and traditional weaving techniques. This amazing group of women are overcoming much by being able to work and share their weaving talents with the world.
