This quilt pattern, along with the entire Nickey Kehoe Quilt Collection, is inspired by a beautiful, turn of the century book of hand-blocked textile samples unearthed by Todd and Amy during a visit to the South of France.
This perfectly patinaed book, along with an impressive collection of patterned textiles gathered from their years of treasure hunting, was a source of inspiration and hallowed guide for this carefully curated collection of four unique quilt patterns.
Perfecting each pattern's color, scale, repeat and printing technique has been Todd and Amy’s labor of love. The result is a unique and modern homage to beautiful artisanship of years past.

The wood items in Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co.’s Blackline Collection utilize a natural reactive process to give them their distinctive dark finish. No pigments are used to create this black color. This unique technique makes use of the tannic acid inherent in white oak to develop a deep, durable, food-safe dye; the source of which comes from within the wood itself. As with most natural processes, some variation in color is to be expected. Natural dyes will “wear” over time developing a rich patina that is special to the object and how it is being used.

At Iris Hantverk, people with visual impairments have been making brushes using the time-honored techniques of traditional Swedish craftsmanship for more than a hundred years. We still draw every brush by hand and use natural materials almost exclusively. The bristles are made of various materials such as horsehair, goat hair Tampico fiber (from plants unique to the semi-desert areas of northern Mexico) and piassava (bass) fiber, depending on their use.
To clean, use dishwashing soap and warm water. Hang or stand to dry. Oil as needed with mineral oil.
