Notes from the maker: I moved to Brooklyn in 2002 when I was 22. Almost everyone I knew was doing something interesting. Once I left a poker game at 3 am in Bushwick. As I stepped onto the street. I was shocked to encounter a wild pack of dogs–the alpha leader, the Lil’ scruff, the dame, etc. New York was wild; it seemed like anything was possible. You could study the weeds that grew out of the cracks in Brooklyn, and even start a perfume company out of nowhere.

D.S. & Durga is a Brooklyn-based husband and wife team with passions and expertise in the art, music, architecture and design worlds. The brand's disparate creative influences work together to create elegiacally eclectic fragrances with entire histories and soundtracks. Their slogan, "perfume is armchair travel," references their mission to rekindle foggy memories and imaginary universes through aromatic stimulation.

Donald Judd was among a generation of artists in the 1960s who sought to entirely do away with illusion, narrative and metaphorical content. He turned to three dimensions as well as industrial working methods and materials in order to investigate "real space," by his definition. Judd surveys the evolution of the artist's work, beginning with his paintings, reliefs and handmade objects from the early 1960s; through the years in which he built an iconic vocabulary of works in three dimensions, including hollow boxes, stacks and progressions made with metals and plastics by commercial fabricators; and continuing through his extensive engagement with color during the last decade of his life.
This richly illustrated catalog takes a close look at Judd's achievements, and, using newly available archival materials at the Judd Foundation and elsewhere, expands scholarly perspectives on his work. Donald Judd (1928-94) began his professional career working as a painter while studying art history and writing art criticism. His work, in turn, changed the language of modern sculpture.

A concise celebration of conceptualist legend John Baldessari's wry approach to image-making
Over the course of his 50-year career, John Baldessari never stopped exploring the seemingly infinite ways that words and images can be manipulated to create new layers of narrative meaning in art. Initially a more traditional painter, in the 1960s Baldessari found himself drawn to a combination of text and photography as the most effective vehicles for his creative intentions. Many of Baldessari's pieces directly address the viewer with hand-painted questions about the nature of art: in What Is Painting (1966-68), Baldessari asks through the canvas, "Do you sense how all the parts of a good picture are involved with each other, not just placed side by side" This piece in particular seems to summarize Baldessari's focus on the recontextualization of familiar images that would define his artistic practice for years to come.
Alongside reproductions of select work, this publication features a wide selection of Baldessari's own writings from 1968 to 2011, providing further insight into the myriad critical ideas already conveyed in the artist's work.
Born in California, John Baldessari (1931-2020) was one of the most influential artists of the conceptual and post-conceptual movements. Baldessari taught at CalArts from 1970 to 1986 and then at UCLA until 2008, with artists such as David Salle and Mike Kelley as some of his earliest students. His commitment to "not making boring art" is evident throughout his entire oeuvre.

Dusen Dusen Taper Candles (set Of 4) - Multi

In his first published monograph, Tyler Mitchell, one of America's distinguished photographers, imagines what a Black utopia could look like.
I Can Make You Feel Good , is a 206-page celebration of photographer and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell's distinctive vision of a Black utopia. The book unifies and expands upon Mitchell's body of photography and film from his first US solo exhibition at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York.
Each page of I Can Make You Feel Good is full bleed and bathed in Mitchell's signature candy-colored palette. With no white space visible, the book's design mirrors the photographer's all-encompassing vision which is characterized by a use of glowing natural light and rich color to portray the young Black men and women he photographs with intimacy and optimism.
The monograph features written contributions from Hans Ulrich Obrist (Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries), Deborah Willis (Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University), Mirjam Kooiman (Curator, Foam) and Isolde Brielmaier (Curator-at-Large, ICP), whose critical voices examine the cultural prevalence of Mitchell's reimagining of the Black experience.
Based in Brooklyn, Mitchell works across many genres to explore and document a new aesthetic of Blackness. He is regularly published in avant- garde magazines, commissioned by prominent fashion houses, and exhibited in renowned art institutions, Mitchell has lectured at many such institutions including Harvard University, Paris Photo and the International Center of Photography (ICP), on the politics of image making.
