Organic cotton bandana, sustainably sourced in India, pre-washed for extra soft feel. "Summer Butts" is the work of California-born illustrator and graphic designer Sebastian Eisenberg, currently working out of Antwerp, Belgium. He is one-third of Millihelen Design, a creative studio in Antwerp he founded with his partner, Lara and their their 11-year-old Border Collie / Lab mix named Mies. Sebastian traces his artistic roots back to his Grandfather, who (among a multitude of other trades) hand-embroidered denim for his own apparel company. Initially driven by a desire to create custom skate decks, he fell in love with skate and street art culture in college. With stencils, spray paint, and other mixed media, Sebastian began to explore his artistic identity. Sebastian chose Skateistan to receive 10% of brand sales of this bandana. It is a New York based international NGO that empowers children through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. As a lover of skateboarding, Sebastian chose to support Skateistan with his design because, as he explained, "I see how great the sport, the community, and the culture can be for young kids.

Building upon Nicole’s extensive work in the non-profit sector and Connor’s business background, they set out to build a bandana that would spark collaboration, inspire original expression, and create positive change. Nicole and Connor have traveled the globe to find the perfect blend of sustainably-sourced, 100% Organic Cotton. They have searched and sampled from countless manufacturers to ultimately find an incredible Fair Trade certified partner in Kolkata, India. They spent countless hours discovering the most original artistic talents in the world and working with them to create mind-blowing bandana designs. Most importantly though, when figuring out how (not if) BANDITS would give back to the world, they put the choice in the hands of the artists. The simple but important decision to donate 10% of sales to charities chosen by the design artists helped to Make bandits what it is today; a platform for customers not just to buy a bandana, but to experience a more personal connection with the designs, the artists, and the amazing charities they’re helping to support.

The "Good Luck" design by Ben Kocinski is inspired by trying times in life and the ways in which we find comfort or hope to get through them. Ben takes cues from design and typography from the 20s, 30s, and 40s, and indeed his creations feel transported a bygone era. True to form, he still draws most of his illustrations by hand before digitally converting them. Ben’s logos, illustrations, and designs have appeared on work for brands like Yeti, Knickerbocker Manufacturing Co., Sable Bourbon, and others.
Ben chose reStart KC to receive 10% of brand sales of this bandana. reStart KC provides housing and supportive services to help homeless men, women, youth and families in the Kansas City area move toward independence and self-sufficiency. reStart is the ONLY homeless agency in Kansas City serving all homeless populations—singles, couples, gay, straight and trans-gendered individuals, and unaccompanied youth ages 12-18, as well as non-traditional families, persons with HIV/AIDS, and individuals recently released from prison or from psychiatric hospitalization.

Tough As A Mother Sweatshirt

The "Free Spirit" design is by Sam Dunn, a freelance designer and illustrator based in South East London. Her colorful, incredibly detailed illustrations are influenced by British skate/punk culture and the hard-charging music that serves as it's soundtrack. In addition to concert poster prints for bands like Mastodon and Alkaline Trio, Sam has created designs for skateboards, bikes, and even bathing suits. As a child, Sam would intricately study and attempt to recreate CD covers, skateboard decks, and gig posters. She still takes great effort to draw her line work by hand, a often overlooked (and time-consumig) technique in today's digital era of art creation. Coupled with elements of botanical inspiration from English countryside trips during her youth, this practice helped Sam to develop a uniquely detailed, hand-drawn style that is simultaneously hard-edged and vulnerable.
When conceiving "Free Spirit," Sam aimed to create an emblem for a truly free-spirited character, or an "Outlaw" in the more modern sense of the word. She imaged someone who led a life not following the usual social norms, a person who sought out their own path rather than chasing what is expected.
Sam chose Parkinson's UK to receive 10% of brand sales of this bandana. It is a London-based organization that provides supportive care for people in the UK living with Parkinson's Disease. Each year, Parkinson's UK helps thousands of people suffering from this disease by providing dedicated support for patients in the form of local advisors, one-on-one counseling, peer groups, online resources, and more.

PROCESS: Somnath is the artisan from West Bengal who hand spins and weaves this cotton fabric. The jumpsuits are dyed, cut and sewn in Rajasthan, India in a craft cooperative. The manager started this cooperative 4 years ago to provide jobs to nearby women so they could send their kids to school. The textured cotton fabric is made with ancient technique called mud-resist.
CARE: Colors may bleed a bit for the first few washes. You can wash by machine or by hand if you want to take more care of your jumper!
