Like many of his best-known designs, the pendant was designed for the Finland House in New York - one of the most ambitious and successful projects of all time to showcase Finnish design. Known for perfecting the techniques of metal finishes, the 1965 Pendant captures Tynell's masterful understanding of brass. Characterized by its triangular perforation pattern - an artistic detail utilised by Tynell in several of his lighting objects - the pendant includes a frosted glass diffuser that softens the light.

Our ambition was to design a pendant with a simple industrial feel, but which was still elegant and poetic. The Copenhagen Pendant is an exercise in contrasts. Combining the classic and the modern, the maritime and the industrial, it is a new pendant developed by Space Copenhagen for &tradition. Following the success‚ of their first collaboration, the Fly Lounge Series, &tradition have worked with Space Copenhagen again to produce a pendant range in matte lacquered metal, one of Space Copenhagen's first lights to enter production.
The shade is spun into shape from a single piece‚ of metal and matte lacquered. The suspension is made from milled and laser cut steel which undergoes a special plating process to produce the desired matte finish to compliment the shade.

The linear series originally came about when the designer couple needed a light over their table but lacked a ceiling outlet and then evolved when they discovered a prototype for the white glass shade at a flea market. Fashioned in bent tubing, the curved steel lamp is available in brass, black or a selection of colorful hues.

A collaboration between Juniper Design Studio and designer David Meckley, Metropolis consists of a striking, precision-machined LED light module with a tubular form. For added surface interest, an optional dynamic mesh overlay for the light source is also available. This Finial Collection is defined by a minimal decorative finial at the top of each otherwise minimal and modern shade. Made by traditional artisans in Sarajevo, because it has a metalworking craft tradition going back over four centuries to when it was part of the ottoman empire. Sheets of brass are spun on a lathe and drawn up by hand around custom-made wooden and metal molds to make them perfectly spherical.
