Description

Sebastian Herkner's "balloon full of light" hovers elegantly atop a desk or sideboard. Each hand-blown glass "balloon" bears the characteristic tiny bubbles, streaks and variations one would expect from an individually crafted piece. The powder-coated steel base structure references the renowned photo series of industrial water towers by German couple Bernd and Hilla Becher. The pair dubbed them "anonymous sculptures." Yet Sebastian's design is hardly nondescript. His visually striking lamp series is achieved with rising German brand Pulpo, which makes a point of honoring the tradition of artisan craftsmanship within it modern point of view.

Designed by Michele Varian, the mobile chandelier incorporates metal elements by Lio and Linn. The two-bulb fixture features three tiers of arched armature, with four separate kinetic mobiles offering an enchanting display of gently moving, illuminated shapes in the air.
Lio and Linn’s steel components – the half-moon ornaments – are blackened with metal blackener then finished with a wax. Varian suspended the components by blackened chains, which thread delicately through the arched armature for a clean composition and a nod to the jewelry-like quality of the mobile light fixture.

The Harrison Chandelier, designed by Søren Rose, is inspired by the New York City glamor of the late 1930s. A part of Menu's Tribeca lighting series, the Harrison was born when Rose traveled across the United States in search of beautiful old lamps. When he returned to his base in New York, he took the pieces apart and reassembled as he saw fit. In this way, the Harrison melds modern aesthetics with the warmth of vintage pieces.

Arms and connection parts are made from solid brass or powder coated steel rod. The socket is painted ceramic. The brass is not lacquered so the metal will darken and patinate over time. Cord measures 196.9". Bulbs not included.

An elegantly modern follow-up to the award-winning pendant style that debuted in Spring 2012, this table lamp version of Lee Broom's Crystal Bulb lighting makes its retail debut outside the U.K. at A+R. On a table, desk or shelf, this brass-stemmed light is available with a cut-lead crystal bulb in clear or the new frosted style. An integrated switch is on the electrical cord. The Lee Broom Crest and Lee Broom logo is delicately etched onto the polished brass base. The London-based Lee combines decorative aesthetics with industrial influences in this standout object of thoughtful, innovative design. The full-lead crystal bulb is hand cut with a traditional crystal pattern and etched with the Lee Broom logo. Fits any standard E27 lamp, wall or ceiling fitting. Looks stunning solo or in a group, and is also available with a brushed brass pendant ceiling fitting that also comes engraved with the Lee Broom crest and with a gold silk flex (a.k.a. cable), or without a fixture should you wish to insert in another fixture altogether. Despite its classic styling, this is a modern incarnation of Lee's original collection of vintage crystal decanters re-purposed as lighting. His bright epiphany one day: realize the concept as a bulb. The dramatic flair so signature to his aesthetic began in theater, then segued into a brief foray into fashion under Vivienne Westwood and schooling at Central St. Martins.
