The Superstar Sofa by Giovannetti is a modern-day version of the style of furniture dating back to the early 1800s called Capitonne.  Using a network of tufted squares, an upholsterer was able to give the furniture an elegant look.  In the Giovannetti Superstar, the upholstery is lightly tufted and accented with steel buttons providing a very contemporary look.
The Superstar Sofa was designed by Enrico Buscemi and Piergiorgio Leone in 2007.  These are Italian architects who have done several projects for Giovannetti, as well as spHaus, Arredaessa, and Mitomi Jewels.

Jules Leleu was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France. At age 26 succeeded his father in the family painting business. With his brother, he began work in the Decorating field. Not until Jules Leleu was in his mid-30s did he start to specialize in furniture design. By 1925 Leleu had his own gallery in Paris, and that same year he exhibited at the Exposition Industrielle et Arts Decoratifs. Among his more famous architectural works are several French embassies, and the Grand Salon of the Ambassadors at the Society of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Similar to other Art Deco Designers of this period, Jules Leleu designed many different furnishings for lavish steamships. Jules Leleu died in 1961.
Considered by some critics as a designer inspired by the influential French Art Deco designer Emile-Jacques Ruhlman, Leleu eventually developed an elegant and refined language in his work that distinguished him from his contemporaries. The Jules Leleu armchair is the new edition of one of the most suggestive and original works by Leleu, who liked it to the point of using it several times in Marcel L'Herbier's film "La Parum del la Dame en Noir" in 1931 and in the "Trouville" apartment on the liner "Normandie" in 1935.

Eero Saarinen designed this sofa in the 1950s, as a part of a seating series for the lobbies of The General Motors Technology Center in Warren, Michigan. Veering away from his usual inspiration, organic elements, he looked to the revolutionary design of a stock car for inspiration. He specifically focused on the stock car seat, which was known for not only its comfort but also its superb construction and upholstery.
To accurately represent the design of the stock car seat Eero Saarinen first conquered the difficulty of obtaining a perfectly horizontal surface through the seat and armrests. Also, Saarinen leaning away from fiberglass, the original material for the frame of a stock car seat, had to devise a method of having the leather adhere perfectly to the frame for an aerodynamic look. Lastly, the importance of the seat has a slight angle to the rear, so that the person lounging would have the same feeling of sitting back into the driver's seat of a stock car.
To this day some of the original lounge series still appears in the lobbies of General Motor Headquarters, also a prototype of this chair appears in the M.O.M.A. These reproductions are the first to be manufactured since the original design and pieces back in the 1950s.

Flat-packed upholstered lounge furniture sounds like a crazy idea. Hans Hornemann considered it a requirement that the function did not involve any compromise with the design. Ace is constructed from molded plywood, covered with molded foam for the highest possible comfort. The back is flexible, which gives it a springy feeling, ensuring great sitting comfort. In order to reach the goal of this ambitious project, Normann Copenhagen has specially developed production tools, brackets, screws, legs and fabrics.
Ace compellingly conquers a room with its relaxed, yet stylish, attitude.
Ace is delivered in two attractive fabrics, a vibrant velour and a flecked wool textile, as well as soft, exclusive leather. The woolen textile, “Nist”, has been developed in-house by Normann Copenhagen to complete the characteristic visual style. Nist is manufactured using an untraditional weaving technique and contains 52 percent linen, which produces an attractive natural flecking of the fabric. The velour brings Ace a seductive elegance, while Nist gives the chair a more stringent, masculine look.

Ace has legs in stained beech, in the same color tones as the fabrics for a uniform expression. The stain allows the wood’s natural flame patterns to shine through and adds a discrete play to the monochrome color universe consisting of five inviting shades.

The Artifort C684 Sofa is a 1968 design from Kho Liang Ie.  Kho Liang Ie was a prominent Indonesian designer.  Born in Magelang, Indonesia in 1927, he emigrated to Holland in 1949. Early in his career, he handled larger contract projects such as the Holland Travel Office in New York and the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. His work with Artifort started in the mid-1960s.
This particular item is considered to have restrained simplicity. The Artifort C683 Sofa has a channeled upholstery, whereas the Artifort C684 has a tufted upholstery.

Tobia Scarpa was born in Venice, Italy in 1935. Both he and his sister Afra, siblings of the renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa earned degrees in architecture from the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1957. Blind-tufted seat and back cushions are crafted with high resiliency medium density foam covered in a Dacron wrap.
Hidden center leg added for extra support.
Cylindrical legs are made from black powder-coated steel.
Non-marking leveler feet can be adjusted for stability on uneven floor surfaces.
Inner frame is 100% kiln-dried FSC-Certified hardwood in support of responsible forest management (FSC 092551).
Frame is reinforced with steel for long lasting durability.

Taking the traditional English roll-arm sofa as their starting point, designers Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi reimagine the characteristic undulating form in Gubi’s scaled-down 2 Seater. Flaneur updates the original with low, generous Italian proportions combined with softly rounded cushions while maintaining a precise silhouette and taut upholstery. A slender wooden frame underpins the inner layering of springs, foam and feathers to offer indisputable comfort in both seated and reclined positions. Immaculate piping defines the seat and backrest cushions, which have removable covers, and the sofa's metal legs come in either antique brass or matte black.

The Mariposa Sofa radiates an inviting aura of spacious comfort and yet maintains a subtly understated presence thanks to its balanced proportions. The sofa owes its extraordinary comfort, on the one hand, to the pleasantly soft upholstery, which completely surrounds the sitter and prevents contact with any hard structural elements. On the other hand, an ingenious adjustment mechanism makes it possible to individually tilt the side and backrest elements for various sitting or reclining positions.
The name of the sofa refers to its refined functionality: the wing-like motion range of the soft, slender panels reminded the designers of a butterfly 'Mariposa' in Spanish.
