Country Medium Bell Jar Lantern In Various Colors

VL45 Radiohus Pendant was originally created for Radiohuset in Copenhagen, which was designed by the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen – one of the leading advocates of modernism and functionalism. The Radiohus Pendant has since become a cherished design icon across the world.

The historical ties between the Radiohus Pendant and the building for which it was created are clearly reflected in the design and the light-technology properties of the light itself. It was originally used for general illumination in many parts of the Radiohuset building. And with its powerful downwards light combined with gentler illumination via the opal glass – which generate softer tones in the room – it is simply ideal for illuminating both everyday objects and more decorative items.

The Radiohus Pendant became Louis Poulsen’s best-selling lamp when it was first launched 71 years ago. Fashion moved on, however, and the original lamp was dropped from the company’s range. Nevertheless, several variations of this type of lamp have since appeared. Demand for the original Radiohus Pendant remains high to this day, proving that there is something special about Vilhelm Lauritzen’s lamps.

Louis Poulsen is relaunching the beautiful Radiohus Pendant in two sizes: 9.8" and 14.6" diameter. The Pendant consists of three layers of mouth-blown glass. The innermost and outermost layers are made of transparent polished glass, while white glass is used for the intermediate layer.

The VL45 Radiohus Pendant has been updated from the perspectives of lighting technology and energy efficiency, and it features a ‘conventional’ screw socket that can accommodate LED bulbs.

While Wästberg is a forward-thinking manufacturer of high-tech lighting, a pendant lamp is a very old concept. Therefore, designing a new pendant lamp for Wästberg means bridging the past with the present. Firstly, the w131 is a surprisingly small lamp. However, it still lights up well and is extremely versatile when it comes to usage. Secondly, the lamp gives a soft and friendly impression, the textile cord further adding softness. Sand-cast recycled aluminium is both beautiful and environmentally sound. Any imperfections of the metal are meant to be there. We will use this lamp both at home and by contract.
