The Pedrera lamp gives the impression of a lantern hanging in space, creating an environment wherever it is placed. Many architects and furniture designers of the Bauhaus era were intent on providing well-designed homes and impeccably manufactured furnishings for the "common man". In 1955, Barba Corsini, a leading functionalist architect, realized his contemporary vision through his renovation of the loft space and the furnishings he custom designed for "La Pedrera". Which was originally designed by Antoni Gaudi, the great master of Spanish Modernism but his unique body of work cannot be defined by any single style or simple classification. Corsini was a great admirer of Finnish architecture, which he believed to be the finest in Europe on account of the powerful simplicity of the designs. 'Powerful simplicity' is indeed an apt description of Corsini's personal design style, as represented by the Pedrera series.

Inspired by Bishop Hook's cast iron lamps that illuminate the Williamsburg Bridge, the Bishop Series is equally timeless, yet modern. Harper Floor Lamp

The Swedish designer Jonas Wagell designed the Peek lamp as a floor lamp to accompany a sofa he designed a few years ago. The design is simplistic, humble and somewhat quirky. He explains, "I find that floor lamps are often big and quite dominant in interiors. I needed a lamp which was small and humble and simply "popped up" where you needed some light. The Peek lamp has a heavy base with a long slender stem and a shade, which gracefully peeks over the back of a sofa or armchair." The shape and silhouette of the Peek floor lamp was the basis for the smaller Peek table lamp. Use the floor lamp as a reading light by the sofa, or as ambient room lighting. The top end of the stem has a touch-sensitive dot that functions as a dimmer. Jonas Wagell on the design: "Although the form derives from a functional requirement I believe it's important that the lamp has personality and an expression. I strive to create simplistic objects and products that are intuitive and easy to understand. In essence, the Peek lamps only consist of three parts; base, stem and shade. Description

Peek is Swedish designer Jonas Wagell's answer to floor lamps that are too big and tend to overpower a space. Let him explain: "I needed a lamp which was small and humble and simply 'popped up' where you needed some light. The Peek lamp has a heavy base with a long slender stem and a shade, which gracefully peeks over the back of a sofa or armchair." Ideal as a reading light or as ambient illumination—and, intuitively, the top end of the light's stem acts as a dimmer.

Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system used in the PH lighting series during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. The 3.5/2.5 floor lamp is a member of the three-shade family and is one of 19 versions available today. Approximately one thousand different models have been produced over the years and consisted of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a number of different chandeliers, which were very popular in the 30s for lighting private homes with high ceilings. Henningsen was the first person to pursue a scientific approach to light and use the logarithmic spiral as a basis, which results in an even distribution of light over the entire curve of the shade.

Poul Henningsen's work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source.
