Appearing almost to float in space, the Cross Pendant Light pares an iconic form down to its linear essentials to create intersecting streams of gently glowing illumination. Two opposing aluminum channels intersect, to propel warm LED light through a recessed poly prismatic diffuser. With no extraneous details, it's available in a minimalist's choice of either white and black powdercoat finish. From Resident, the New Zealand-based contemporary design and manufacturing company just established in 2011, and already lauded for its authentic blend of craft, engineering and innovation.

The Franklin Chandelier, designed by Søren Rose, is inspired by the New York City glamor of the late 1930s. A part of Menu's Tribeca lighting series, the Franklin was born when Rose traveled across the United States in search of beautiful old lamps. When he returned to his base in New York, he took the pieces apart and reassembled as he saw fit. In this way, the Franklin melds modern aesthetics with the warmth of vintage pieces.

Arms and connection parts are made from solid brass or powder coated steel rod. The socket is painted ceramic. The brass is not lacquered so the metal will darken and patinate over time. Cord measures 196.9". Bulbs not included.

Curator's Notes

This pendant shade, part of designer Rina Ono’s lighting collection for Hayashi Kougei, is made from traditional Japanese washi paper. There are so many things to love about it! It’s incredibly well crafted – from the same area as most of our washi paper products in the Gifu prefecture – and it emits a very diffused light through the paper, giving everything around a soft glow. I was also drawn to the collection because of the exquisite forms the pendants are available in.

Description

Marset's Pleat Box series, with model 36 a mid-size version, raids the digital toolbox for a design that's applied to one of the oldest heritage crafts—ceramics. A computer-generated fold in a piece of cloth becomes a striking creased ceramic shade, in a range of color options resulting from recycling different enamels. On the interior, a choice of either bright white or warm gold enamel creates a glittering effect. Pleat Box is also an exciting and first-ever union between between Xavier Mañosa, a master ceramicist from Barcelona, and the Mashallah design studio in Berlin with the Marset brand. Xavier's detour as an industrial designer informs his bold shapes while Mashallah, the brainchild of Hande Ak ç ayli and Murat Ko ç yigit, is right at the intersection of art and technology.

Sculptural Glass Cone Pendant - Milk

The Sola Pendant was designed as part of David Trubridge’s Icarus installation shown in Milan which is based on the Greek myth about the boy who flew too close to the Sun. Sola represents the Sun which will get too hot if you fly too high and the shapes look a little like the solar flares that form and curl on the surface and edge of our Sun.

Made of natural (untreated) bamboo ply. The flat pack kit includes the plastic assembly clips, a round white ceiling canopy and a 10' electrical cord with bulb socket that fits standard 100 watt, 120 volt incandescent bulbs.

The Sola Pendant is available in the indicated colors, with Side A / Side B. Images show Side A on the outside and Side B on the inside, but all pendants can be assembled with sides A and B swapped. All painted colors are available with Caramel at an additional cost. Custom colors are also available at an additional cost and extended lead time.
