The Satellite Pendant of two sizes is designed by Mathieu Matelot in 1953 with geometrical shapes and an organic shade to create outstanding sculptural aesthetics. The name, Satellite, was given by Matelot as a wink and tribute to the scientific progress in France in the years after the Second World War.
The Satellite Pendant holds the distinctive trait of Rigitulle, a technique and material invented by the designer himself that makes it possible to bend and fold the fabric-like metal sheet to an original, oblong-shaped pendant lamp. The lampshade has five color options; midnight black, white cloud, shy cherry, venetian gold and rainy grey, and is unique with its bulb all covered by perforated metal to exude an atmospheric light - creating a festive appearance. The interplay of light and shadow cast on walls and floors generate a dramatic feature in any dining room, hallway or restaurant. Hang the Satellite Pendant alone as a character piece or in multiples to create a cloud of luminosity.

Care Instructions:
For dusting and light cleaning of the metal surface and frame use a soft, dry cloth.
For further cleaning, use a soft cloth that is firmly wrung in clean water for gently wiping the surface, and then immediately use a dry cloth to wipe the surface again.
If more thorough cleaning is necessary, use a mild detergent or washing-up liquid dissolved in water on a firmly wrung cloth. Afterwards, repeat the process with clean water as described above. Polish with a soft cloth after wiping.
Do not use materials for maintenance that:

Contain abrasive agents
Are basic, acidiferous or organic

For the best maintenance of the product, protect it against sunlight and heat, and try to keep it away from moisture, grease and other dirt.
Furthermore, protect the surfaces against sharp objects and other that might scratch.

The warm, filtered light housed within the Maija series now with LED technology, in the new hanging lamp version based on the original 1955 design and re-edited in two sizes: Maija S and Maija L. In the language of Finnish functionalism, the Maija series conveyed the feeling of Baltic light from the inside outwards, with a graceful, durable structure reminiscent of the childish honeycomb of naughty honey bee Maya, the heroine of stories and cartoons that originally inspired its name. Maija was a very popular lamp from the start. It was the only one made by this first major Finnish industrial non-architect designer after Alvar Aalto, and who is now recognised as a maestro of generations. An opaque body with a brass structure fragmented into superimposed plates, filters and directs its happy inner light. The full series of the famous Finnish classic comprises floor, table top and hanging versions.
