Our ambition was to design a pendant with a simple industrial feel, but which was still elegant and poetic. The Copenhagen Pendant is an exercise in contrasts. Combining the classic and the modern, the maritime and the industrial, it is a new pendant developed by Space Copenhagen for &tradition. Following the success‚ of their first collaboration, the Fly Lounge Series, &tradition have worked with Space Copenhagen again to produce a pendant range in matte lacquered metal, one of Space Copenhagen's first lights to enter production. The shade is spun into shape from a single piece‚ of metal and matte lacquered. The suspension is made from milled and laser cut steel which undergoes a special plating process to produce the desired matte finish to compliment the shade. Opal version: The shade is made from mouth-blown opal glass. The suspension is made from milled and laser cut bronzed brass. Please Note: the bulb is not included.

Sky Dome Pendant

Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system used in the PH lighting series during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. The 4/3 pendant is a member of the three-shade family and is one of 19 versions available today. Approximately one thousand different models have been produced over the years and consisted of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a number of different chandeliers, which were very popular in the 30s for lighting private homes with high ceilings. Henningsen was the first person to pursue a scientific approach to light and use the logarithmic spiral as a basis, which results in an even distribution of light over the entire curve of the shade.

Poul Henningsen's work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source.
