Concentric is a visually striking lamp whether it’s on or off, though turned on in the dark is when it becomes the most impressive and dynamic. The effect it promotes is almost hypnotic, because of the way the light vibrates when we view it.
Concentric’s design emerges from the observation of a natural phenomenon: while on an airplane journey, the fixture’s designer noticed the effect of the sunlight entering through the windows and reflecting the vibrant colors of the passengers’ clothing on the curved white surface of the airplane’s interior. Concentric is a visually striking lamp whether it’s on or off, though turned on in the dark is when it becomes the most impressive and dynamic.

Over 30 years after his first lighting design, Arne Jacobsen would return to interior lighting with a stunning new series of creations. The AJ Wall Lamp was an integral part of this series. Like the Egg Chair, Swan Chair and other Danish modern furniture that would become interior design icons, the AJ Wall Lamp was designed by Jacobsen specifically for Copenhagen’s Royal SAS Hotel. And while the lamps could be considered almost a footnote for a project this size, Jacobsen drew up the exterior architectural plans along with playing a leading role in the interior design. His attention to detail conceived another classic. The distinctive funnel shade is easily adjustable, allowing you to focus glare-free light wherever you need it. Produced almost entirely of aluminum, the lamp is light but sturdy, with a matte, smooth finish.
