Kahina's Argan Oil — light, non-greasy, and organic — is one of the best multi-taskers we carry. With high concentrations of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it can be worn alone or layered under a moisturizer. We often recommend it as a "starter oil" for those who have been hesitant to try facial oils, since it has sebum-balancing properties that make it kind to skin that tends to be oily or prone to breakouts.
It can also be used on hands (great for cuticles), body (great for stretch marks), and hair (fabulous frizz-fighter and split end-mender). Marie Veronique’s Louis Pierre Shave Prep + Daily Wash might be something that you all decide to snap up, male or female.
It’s a deliciously foamy, creamy, exfoliating cleanser (by the way, we LOVE creamy exfoliating cleansers) that’s designed to provide an effective but gentle daily wash while prepping the skin for a closer and more comfortable shave. The fragrance free formula, which smells delightfully like just plain soap, features lactic acid (AHA) to exfoliate for fresher-looking, less congested skin, while willow bark (BHA) penetrates deeply into pores to soften hair follicles. Marie Veronique’s Louis Pierre Aftershave Tonic is designed specifically to soothe and hydrate recently-shaved, sensitive skin. And it’s the one you’ve been waiting for, too, if you want separated, fluffy, volumized lashes in a good-for-you formula that takes it to another level. The Big Clean not only provides the performance we’ve all come to expect from Kosas, but also includes three ingredients, in lash-growth-serum concentrations, to keep your lashes healthier and fuller to begin with. There’s castor oil, a fixture in many lash and brow growth serums (because it works); ProVitamin B5 to help repair damaged hair; and Biotinyl tripeptide to help support the hair bulb (where hair anchors to its roots).

Kahina’s Moroccan Beldi Soap is unlike any soap we’ve ever seen, and because of it, we’re even more excited for our showers and baths than usual. For starters, it contains three ingredients. THREE. Organic olive oil, water, and an essential oil — either eucalyptus, neroli, or rose — or plain argan oil. Isn’t that wild? As creator Katharine L’Heureux told us in this interview, “The olive oil is saponified, or turned into soap, using sodium hydroxide mixed with water. The water disappears during the production process.  The result is a unique, gel-like consistency that works wonders to cleanse and soften skin.”
And the viscous dark green gel indeed works wonders: when our testers tried it along with Kahina’s pleasantly scrubby Kessa glove, their skin was softer than it had been in ages. Katharine created the Beldi Soap after making several ingredient-sourcing trips to Morocco, where a trip to the hammam for a good skin scrub became her first stop after the long flight from New York. Dr. Anna Gold's CLEAR tincture is designed for acne prone skin; its creator, Dr. Gold, developed it for cystic acne, but it can work on any hot, superficial breakouts. Designed to calm blemishes and deep eruptions by healing skin from within, CLEAR is, in our view, a must-have for those who struggle with acne and want to know what else they can do aside from using the right products on their skin and paying attention to their diet.
Our acne prone testers noticed a dramatic difference in their breakouts while taking it — their skin’s oil levels seemed to smooth out, their breakouts were noticeably less frequent, and their pimples didn’t overstay their welcome like they used to. You do have to take CLEAR regularly (you can’t expect miracles to occur after one dose), but if you’re compliant, we’re guessing that you’ll be as pleasantly shocked by its efficacy as we have been.

Les Fleurs de Bach Letting Go Elixir is one of those additions to our shelves that was entirely unexpected and completely delightful. This ingestible product first came to our attention during a recent discussion with the Parisian team at Les Fleurs de Bach. We asked if we were missing any of their best selling Elixirs on our shelves, to which they immediately replied, "Why, yes! Letting Go.”
Now, this was highly intriguing. First of all, taking an Elixir of this kind requires the realization that one actually needs to let go of something, or to take a fresh perspective: a fairly tall order for many of us. About six months, to be precise, ever since Dara randomly popped into Ursa Major’s HQ in Vermont and their co-founder, Emily, mentioned that it was in development…followed by a whisper: “It’s the best one we’ve made yet. I can’t use anything else.”
Yes: this from the people who created the best-selling Hoppin’ Fresh Deodorant, which we generally tell everyone is the deodorant that will make you switch over from your “sure, it may not be the best thing for me, but it works” drugstore deo.
While Sublime Sage also uses yeast-derived enzymes to neutralize odor, everything else about is different: it’s a spray rather than a stick, and it uses a couple of other new, clean compounds to control odor both within the pores and before it even starts. Designed to cover both exertion (exercise) and stress sweat, the lightweight, non-staining, vegan, and (of course) aluminum-free formula dries quickly, leaving behind nothing but long-lasting protection against odor and its related you-don’t-want-these-in-your-microbiome bacteria.
While Hoppin’ Fresh features a crisp unisex eucalyptus-citrus scent, Sublime Sage features a slightly more herbaceous unisex blend of sage, sandalwood, lemon myrtle, and geranium. We’re big fans of both…but if forced to choose, we might have to pick this one. Simply put, once you spray, you can’t go back. There’s just something about it that’s a lot simpler. Nfuse deodorant is the latest everyone-needs-this addition to our shelves.
First of all, it truly works: we tested it on four people to be sure (because we don’t mess around in general, but especially where deodorant is concerned). While one tester mentioned that the throwback liquid roll-on format took a little getting used to, all were very pleasantly surprised by its odor controlling efficacy — even the toughest deo critic, who had rejected several other brands we submitted for testing.
Secondly, it uses magnesium as one of its key odor-controlling ingredients (the other one is tried-and-true baking soda). We’ve been fans of magnesium supplementation since Ayla first opened; most of us don’t get enough of it in our diets, it’s depleted by stress, and it boasts myriad benefits ranging from bone and heart health to better sleep and digestion to reduced anxiety and muscle pain. It’s the It-girl supplement for these stressy times, and the cool thing about it is that it can be delivered through ingestibles as well as through the skin — it’s the reason why Epsom salt baths are so soothing.
And, since underarm skin is particularly permeable and this product has been so well formulated, 2-3 swipes of nfuse deodorant actually deliver 290 mg of magnesium, a good chunk of your recommended daily intake.
