In 1968 the students' revolts in Paris, Rome and the United States were overthrowing stiff, old values, and initiating the Flower-Power generation of peace, love and harmony. Same year, Stanley Kubrick pictured the future of the year 2001, featuring the Verner Panton Chair, and man was soon to set foot on the moon. In the world of design, a colorful, playful pendant hung in restaurants and exhibitions, and very soon, in everybody's homes. The FlowerPot with its two semi-circular spheres facing each other has long proved its lasting design quality and is just as much a synonym of our time, too.
In his young days, Panton often set off from Copenhagen in an odd looking converted Volkswagen for a trek across Europe, dropping in on fellow designers to share ideas - and good meals.
The Flowerpot series consists of several different models, including three pendants and two table lamps - all in a wide range of colors.

When switched off the lights have an angular sculptural beauty, and when switched on they provide warm, ambient lighting with dramatic lines and shadows. The lights are available in 5 different shade designs. Each have a complementing faceted bone china ceiling rose, with a contrasting black cotton braided cable, providing a contemporary edge. Formed from concentric circles of laser-cut, recycled cardboard, the Scraplight series is the emergent flagship project from Graypants. The wide eye-catching convex barrel shape of the Oliv Scraplight Classic is a romantically sculptural masterpiece, exhibiting exquisite handmade craftsmanship in every section of artfully arranged corrugation which varies to mimic intricate woodcarvings and allow differing amounts of light to be diffused from every angle. Each Oliv Scraplight is assembled with non-toxic adhesives and treated with a non-toxic fire retardant.

Stanley 3 Black  Pendant - Hammered Finish

The JH5 Formakami Pendant represents traditional materials with a modern twist. In the Formakami series, designer Jaime Hayon created a collection of paper lanterns all in white, each one featuring a unique shape and size. Dating back centuries, paper lanterns have featured in Asia amongst the privileged and the poor, where different colors, shapes and sizes connote different meanings. As seen in The Lekker Creative.
"Lamps play such an important role in people's lives," explains Hayon. "For some cultures, they chase away the darkness by bringing hope. I've tried to keep this emotional angle about light—in a lamp that also appears light. By making the bottom part of the lamp open, the idea is to bring even more illumination to people everywhere in the world."
